discrepancy notes download in 3.1

Hi all,
When trying out the new discrepany notes download feature in 3.1, I noticed that for each discrepancy note, there are two notes generated for the download.
Please see attachments for yourself.
Is there a reason for this? Can anyone explain this?

Thanks,
Michael Shi

    Hi Michael,

    This is expected functionality.

Initially when a discrepancy note is logged, 2 records get stored in the database: A parent record and a child. Each subsequent response/update when a note is added to the thread will add one additional child note to the record. The parent record will always reflect the most recent status.

    Example:
Action: A new failed validation check gets entered in OpenClinica.
Result: 1 Parent note (status = “new”), 1 Child note (status=”new”) are saved in the database.
Action: User opens the discrepancy and “adds a note to thread” with a status of updated.
Result: 1 Parent note (status=”updated”), 1 Child note (status=”new”), 1 Child note (status=”updated”) are saved in the database.

When you download this to excel, you should see a column for Note ID and Parent Note. This allows you to retain the whole thread for the life of the discrepancy.

    I hope this helps.

    Best regards,
    Alicia

    Hi Alicia,
Thanks for the clarifications. It makes sense now.
