Rules across different sections in the same form

Hi all,

I'm interested in creating a rule within one form between 2 variables in different sections. I defined the target ID as the variable in the later section. I only included the Item ID since this is not a cross form rule and the rule didn't work. Any ideas?

Thanks!
Dalia.

    Hi Dalia,
The rule must be on the item that is second in the flow of filling out the form.
Otherwise you will try to evaluate it when only first item exists. On this case the rule does not run.
Can you give example form and rule code?

    Hi Tina,

The target is indeed the second in the flow. Attached is the form and rule.

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi Dalia,
I see that you are validating an item in a repeatable group against an ungrouped item from previous section.
My immediate reaction would be that in the expression, you'd need to reference also the group OID for the item outside the group. I'll try and test it and get back to you.

I only tested for the first two fields in the first repeatable section. the attached rules work for me. I adde references to the groups to all items that are not the target item in the expression.
This is what I did with CRF to test:
I entered "no" for applicable section. Saved, go on to I1 section.
In first row, I entered 103 into sample id. left the second field blank. saved.
The message "Please delete since immunogenicity tests were not performed or.." appears.
I fixed also the second rule about the date of sample - because It was only checking whether the date was empty but sample ID given -- I linked it to the applicable item in previous section as well. A blank answer if correct if tests were not performed.
Please note that I made the second rule target the date - this is an artefact of my testing and you can change it back (just put the groupoid onto the nontarget item).
    Best,
    Tina
