Hi! did you solve? It looks like I have the same or a similar problem:

in the C:\oc\tomcat\logs directory, the only log files written to when Tomcat7 starts, and visibly containing errors, are:

    tomcat7-stdout.2018-05-17.log
    tomcat7-stderr.2018-05-17.log

    The first one contains:

18:59:11,280 |-ERROR in ch.qos.logback.classic.net.SyslogAppender[SYSLOG-USAGESTATS] - Could not create SyslogWriter java.net.UnknownHostException: usage.openclinica.com at java.net.UnknownHostException: usage.openclinica.com at at java.net.Inet6AddressImpl.lookupAllHostAddr(Native Method) at at java.net.InetAddress$1.lookupAllHostAddr(InetAddress.java:901) at at java.net.InetAddress.getAddressesFromNameService(InetAddress.java:1293) at at java.net.InetAddress.getAllByName0(InetAddress.java:1246) at at java.net.InetAddress.getAllByName(InetAddress.java:1162) at at java.net.InetAddress.getAllByName(InetAddress.java:1098) at at java.net.InetAddress.getByName(InetAddress.java:1048) at at ch.qos.logback.core.net.SyslogOutputStream.<init>(SyslogOutputStream.java:44) at at ch.qos.logback.classic.net.SyslogAppender.createOutputStream(SyslogAppender.java:61) at at ch.qos.logback.core.net.SyslogAppenderBase.start(SyslogAppenderBase.java:54) at at ch.qos.logback.classic.net.SyslogAppender.start(SyslogAppender.java:51) at at ch.qos.logback.core.joran.action.AppenderAction.end(AppenderAction.java:96) at at ch.qos.logback.core.joran.spi.Interpreter.callEndAction(Interpreter.java:317) at at ch.qos.logback.core.joran.spi.Interpreter.endElement(Interpreter.java:196) at at ch.qos.logback.core.joran.spi.Interpreter.endElement(Interpreter.java:182) at at ch.qos.logback.core.joran.spi.EventPlayer.play(EventPlayer.java:62) at at ch.qos.logback.core.joran.GenericConfigurator.doConfigure(GenericConfigurator.java:149) at at ch.qos.logback.core.joran.GenericConfigurator.doConfigure(GenericConfigurator.java:135) at at ch.qos.logback.core.joran.GenericConfigurator.doConfigure(GenericConfigurator.java:99) at at ch.qos.logback.core.joran.GenericConfigurator.doConfigure(GenericConfigurator.java:49) at at ch.qos.logback.classic.util.ContextInitializer.configureByResource(ContextInitializer.java:75) at at ch.qos.logback.classic.util.ContextInitializer.autoConfig(ContextInitializer.java:150) at at org.slf4j.impl.StaticLoggerBinder.init(StaticLoggerBinder.java:85) at at org.slf4j.impl.StaticLoggerBinder.<clinit>(StaticLoggerBinder.java:55) at at org.slf4j.LoggerFactory.bind(LoggerFactory.java:129) at at org.slf4j.LoggerFactory.performInitialization(LoggerFactory.java:108) at at org.slf4j.LoggerFactory.getILoggerFactory(LoggerFactory.java:302) at at org.slf4j.LoggerFactory.getLogger(LoggerFactory.java:276) at at org.akaza.openclinica.dao.core.OCContextLoaderListener.<init>(OCContextLoaderListener.java:15) at at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance0(Native Method) at at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.java:57) at at sun.reflect.DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.java:45) at at java.lang.reflect.Constructor.newInstance(Constructor.java:526) at at java.lang.Class.newInstance(Class.java:374) at at org.apache.catalina.core.DefaultInstanceManager.newInstance(DefaultInstanceManager.java:140) at at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardContext.listenerStart(StandardContext.java:4888) at at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardContext.startInternal(StandardContext.java:5467) at at org.apache.catalina.util.LifecycleBase.start(LifecycleBase.java:150) at at org.apache.catalina.core.ContainerBase.addChildInternal(ContainerBase.java:901) at at org.apache.catalina.core.ContainerBase.addChild(ContainerBase.java:877) at at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardHost.addChild(StandardHost.java:632) at at org.apache.catalina.startup.HostConfig.deployDirectory(HostConfig.java:1229) at at org.apache.catalina.startup.HostConfig$DeployDirectory.run(HostConfig.java:1875) at at java.util.concurrent.Executors$RunnableAdapter.call(Executors.java:471) at at java.util.concurrent.FutureTask.run(FutureTask.java:262) at at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.runWorker(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:1145) at at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:615) at at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:744)

The second one contains (I replaced the Italian word "Grave" with "Severe", I think this is what you find in the English version):

Severe: Error listenerStart mag 17, 2018 6:59:23 PM org.apache.catalina.core.StandardContext startInternal Severe: Context [/OpenClinica] startup failed due to previous errors mag 17, 2018 6:59:23 PM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader clearReferencesJdbc Severe: The web application [/OpenClinica] registered the JDBC driver [org.postgresql.Driver] but failed to unregister it when the web application was stopped. To prevent a memory leak, the JDBC Driver has been forcibly unregistered. mag 17, 2018 6:59:23 PM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader clearReferencesThreads Severe: The web application [/OpenClinica] appears to have started a thread named [[email protected]] but has failed to stop it. This is very likely to create a memory leak. mag 17, 2018 6:59:23 PM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader clearReferencesThreads Severe: The web application [/OpenClinica] appears to have started a thread named [Timer-0] but has failed to stop it. This is very likely to create a memory leak.

Tomcat starts when needed, it listens to port 8080 (I see the bind with netstat) but "page not found" or something similar happens when I try to open localhost:8080 in the web browser.

I am just starting, so I know absolutely nothing about Tomcat and OpenClinica, thus please be patient....
    Thanks
    Giorgio
