Postgres 8.4.1-1 Install Warning

I have attached a screenshot of a warning I received while attempting to install PostGres 8.4.1-1.
Has anyone received this warning while installing?
Has anyone successfully installed and run Openclinica ignoring this warning?
Does this warning have any significance in the Openclinica installation?
Thanks,
Barry

Have a look at the log file
    Troubleshooting
If you encounter any problems during installation, please check the logfile that is created in /tmp on Linux or Mac OS X or %TEMP% on Windows. The file will be called install-postgresql.log. The logfile may contain the superuser password you specified during the installation, which should be replaced before sharing the log with anyone.
If you are unable to resolve the problem having reviewed the logfile, please search the EnterpriseDB forums as well as your favourite search engine for a solution.
If you still cannot resolve the issue, please post details of the problem, along with system details and any appropriate parts of the installation logfile to the installer forum.
This message almost always indicates that you have had an installation of PostgreSQL on the computer before.
The post-install will do this under normal circumstances:
1.) create a so called cluster which will host all the different databases
2.) create a user with the name postgres
If either step fails this message appears. In most cased this means that PostgreSQL is not properly installed and you can expect problems. In rare cases it will work anyway.
at 1.) If you have previously installed PostgreSQL and now tried it again make sure you have a) a backup of you data if you ever had data in PostgreSQL b) properly cleaned up before
    http://forums.enterprisedb.com/posts/list/1744.page
at 2.) If you had cleaned up all the files (the uninstall process does not automatically clean up the cluser in C:\Program files\Postgresql\8.4) you might have the problem that there is a user postgres on the system already.
    If you can remove it
    net /del user postgres

  • Barry, yes I’ve gotten this error. Check the database cluster file name. Normally, the install stops when there is a duplicate cluster. Check your local drive. ‘initdb will refuse to run if the data directory looks like it has already been initialized’.

    Hi Barry,
I've seen this error message too while installing the database on Windows
    7. If I just clicked "ok" and started OpenClinica afterwards, OC wouldn't
work. In my case the problem was that the installer couldn't set the proper
access rights to the data folder located in the C:\Program
Files\PostgreSQL\8.4 path. The database engine needs the postgres user
account to have all but "full control" permissions to this folder and all
its children, but the installer failed to set these permissions.
I set them manually and all worked just fine afterwards.
    Best regards,
    Janus
