Restoring Order of backed up stuff for openclinica

Dear Developers
Greetings

I want to know the order of restoring the stuff , in case of I am going to a new server. The way I do from the start , I am writing.

Please read and correct.

Like for normal installation of open clinica, I follow the instructions given on internet in following order.
1. Java in D:\OC\Java folder
2. Postgres in D:\Postgres folder
3. Tomcat in D:\OC\Tomcat folder
4. Then I create clinica database and role in Postgre
5. Then I configure tomcat, like service startup type to automatic, and maximum pool to 1280
6. Then I deploy war file
7. Then I start Tomcat service
8. Then I check the link http://localhost:8080/OpenClinica
9. And it works
Here is my question begins, Lets say during crash of machine or migration from one machine to another machine.
According to instructions , of backup, I have taken backup of
1. Openclinica database using backup utility of postgres server
2. Openclinica.data directory in D:\OC\Tomcat
3. Openclinica directory in D:\OC\Tomcat\webapps directory

Now lets say I have another machine. In which I am to configure all things again:
1. Java in D:\OC\Java folder
2. Postgres in D:\Postgres folder
3. Tomcat in D:\OC\Tomcat folder
4. Then I create clinica database and role in Postgre
5. Then I configure tomcat, like service startup type to automatic, and maximum pool to 1280
6. Then I deploy war file

Now restore things are to be done:

· Restoring database
· Placing the Openclinica.data directory in D:\OC\Tomcat
· Placing openclinica directory in D:\OC\Tomcat\webapps

What is the order of doing restore, I mean to say, first I restore database or first I place directories.

And When to start Tomcat service before to restore or after restore.

Correct me if I am doing in wrong way.
I am using Windows.. and openclinica 3.1.4

Thanks and Regards
Manoj

    Hi Manoj
The steps seem about right. Some observations:
    1. The role created in postgres shouldn't matter as long as it is what is in datainfo.properties and it has control of the openclinica database.
    2. The order of restoring the database and placing the files shouldn't matter, as long as both are done before firing up tomcat.
    3. If restoring into a fresh installation / deployment, it shouldn't be necessary to replace the entire openclinica webapps directory, just the properties files.
    Best regards,

Some issues I have come across though is that you would like the role used to backup your database to be available on the server you are migrating to (with possibly similar login password). Otherwise restoring a previously backed up database poses a challenge. Any inputs on this observation is greatly welcome.
The order of database and OpenClinica and .data folder restore really does not matter, as have been mentioned in the posts below. At risk of sounding obvious, only ensure that to run the application, the postgres service is started before Tomcat service.
