Help

Hi all,

I am a newbie and need some help… Tried installing OpenClinica 2.0 in 3 different computers, everything OK until I reach the login page, then I use demo_director or root as username and the passwords that come with the installation instructions but al I get is a blank screen… Am I doing something wrong? Should this be installed in a server as opposed to my desktop computer?

If anyone can help I will really appreciate it.

Thanks

Andrew Miranda

    Hi Miranda,

    Unfortunately, i too am facing the same problem and so are other users. I have posted the same in the forum too, this issue was unfortuantely not resolved till date, i have also mailed the directory logs but to no avial, i did not recieve any response after that. I think we are stranded on an island with no help whatsoever. All i think you can best do is to recheck the entire installation process, i did that too for say 8 times, but result was all the same after login no entry. Anyways dont want to discourage you, please do let me know if you get an answer for the same. Open clinica is such good program and i hate to lose it like this.

    Regards
    Vamsi

  • vamsi, Miranda:
    Could you post the latest stdout_date and catalina.date.log files under C:\tomcat55\logs ? I remember seeing the blank screens before. But i think it went away after i restarted the application server (Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and restart Apache tomcat).
    Cheers

  • Another possible fix could be the following steps, originally suggested by Yufang Wang to another user. Please let us know if this helps you, we would very much like to hear more feedback on this issue:

    Please check if you have tables STUDY_PARAMETER and STUDY_PARAMETER_VALUE in your database? If you miss these two tables, you could do:

    1. check if there are values in your SUBJECT_EVENT_STATUS table
    2. if the answer to 1 is "no", execute the sql script ..\OpenClinica\database\PostgreSQL\2.0\upgrade\schema_patch_1.1_to_2.0.sql
    3. if the answer to 1 is "yes", get rid of the few lines at the end of schema_patch_1.1_to_2.0.sql and execute the script. The lines should be removed are:

    --do the following inserts if your DB for 1.1 doesn't have any data in subject_event_status
    --otherwise, you may need to update the data manually, not insert, because the DB for 1.0 has 9 statuses
    --in subject_event_status table, but the data is missing by mistake in 1.1
    insert into subject_event_status values(1, 'scheduled', '');
    insert into subject_event_status values(2, 'not scheduled', '');
    insert into subject_event_status values(3, 'data entry started', '');
    insert into subject_event_status values(4, 'completed', '');
    insert into subject_event_status values(5, 'stopped', '');
    insert into subject_event_status values(6, 'skipped', '');
    insert into subject_event_status values(7, 'locked', '');

  • Hello,
    I am doing reseach on OpenClinica and found it is quite interesting.
    I've problems with my first application. Tomcat is running well but when I hit http://localhost:8080/OpenClinica/ ; I get the HTTP Status 404.
    I'm using Win XP Proffesional.
    I've declared.
    CATALINA_HOME: C:\oc\tomcat
    Java_Home : C:\oc\jdk1.6.0_16
    The path of OpenClinica folder is C:\oc\tomcat\webapps\OpenClinica
    and the url is http://localhost:8080/OpenClinica/
    Actually, I'm using OpenClinica-3.0.1 and I followed the Installation
    document in it.
    But in the Installation document I have got difficulties in the following section
    Create a Database
    • Select the postgres database. Click Tools>Query tool to open the SQL editor.
    • Select File>Open from the menu; (if you receive a message asking you if you want to save, click No)
    o Open and Execute create_user_and_db_3.0.1.sql in the C:\oc\OpenClinica-3.0.1\config\database\PostgreSQL\3.0.1\install folder.
    Unfortunately, I didnt find create_user_and_db_3.0.1.sql in that particular folder.
    I only find create_db and create_role; so I execute create_role and then create_db. So I would like to ask, is that I did the right thing.
    I can't run the application which is in the Folder above.
    Can some body help me? I'll appreciate any help with the topic

    Executing create_role.sql (first) and create_db.sql was the right thing.
    If you could send us your tomcat log files (from the tomcat log folder, e.g. C:\oc\tomcat\logs\) it might be possible to help you.
