First I want to thank you for all your help.
My installation is now working. I think I do not need to reinstall the
    postgresql.
The problem was that the user_account was not in the database. The
create_database_2.5.5_tables_with_data.sql file had not been executed
properly before. I then executed the each sql statement separately and now
    it is working.
But while executing some of the sql statement it gives error. I am attaching
a text document that contain details of the sql statements and there error.
Could you please figure it out, what I have committed mistake?
Could you please give me solution for it?
As I think some of the problem arises due to re-execution of sql statement.
I tried but could not figure it out how to resolve it.

    Nitesh Verma.

    Hello Nitesh Verma,
How about uninstall your postgresql and reinstall it? Please follow
OpenClinica installation instruction, and pay attention to the step:
    * Uncheck the PL/pgsql language. (The database scripts you will
run later will create this procedural language, and if it is created in
this step those scripts will fail.)
Good luck to your installation and let us know if there is trouble.

    Hello Nitesh Verma,
For postgresql-8.2.13, you need provide a strong password to create
    account.
So, now do you have your database "openclinica" which is specified in
you OpenClinica.xml? And can you see the table "user_account"? And can
you see the user "root"? Your previous logs showed that this table has

  • If I'm in your situation, I will:
    1. try to install a fresh openclinica database.
    - use pgAdminIII to drop openclinica database: right click on
the openclinica database, then select "Delete/Drop"
    - create a new openclinica database and run scripts following
    OpenClinica installation instruction.
    You see, OpenClinica database schema for 2.5.5 has more than 70 tables;
it will be easier and safer to re-create them than recover them since
you do no have data at all. :)
    2. If creating tables still failed, I will re-install postgresql with
cautions and see if same failure will be reproduced.
    Good Luck!

  • Hello,

I'm new to OpenClinica, I'm trying to have it running locally on my computer, but I'm having trouble running the openclinica database.
    I downloaded openclica 2.5.5
    I've installed postgresql-8.3.7-1, apache tomcat-5.5.27, jdk-1_5_0_19-windows-i586-p.

All seem to be well, apart from the open clinica database,
whenever I try to run the query ''create_database_2.5.5_tables_with_data'' I get error messages particulary to do with foreign key constaraints.
I've realise that all primary keys are 'serial' integer data types where as when these columns are used in child tables as foreign keys they are 'numeric'

so, when ever I run 'execute', the database is not created.

Could there be a better way of rectifying this problem, than editing all foreign key tables??
Or, Could it be, I missing some step in the installtion??

    Hello Nitesh Verma,
If I'm in your situation, I will:
    1. try to install a fresh openclinica database.
    - use pgAdminIII to drop openclinica database: right click on
the openclinica database, then select "Delete/Drop"
    - create a new openclinica database and run scripts following
    OpenClinica installation instruction.
    You see, OpenClinica database schema for 2.5.5 has more than 70 tables;
it will be easier and safer to re-create them than recover them since
you do no have data at all. :)
    2. If creating tables still failed, I will re-install postgresql with
cautions and see if same failure will be reproduced.
    Good Luck!

First I want to thank you for all your help.
My installation is now working. I think I do not need to reinstall the
    postgresql.
The problem was that the user_account was not in the database. The
create_database_2.5.5_tables_with_data.sql file had not been executed
properly before. I then executed the each sql statement separately and
    now
    it is working.
But while executing some of the sql statement it gives error. I am
    attaching
a text document that contain details of the sql statements and there
    error.
Could you please figure it out, what I have committed mistake?
Could you please give me solution for it?
As I think some of the problem arises due to re-execution of sql
    statement.
I tried but could not figure it out how to resolve it.

    Hi Caleb,

The most likely reason you can not login is the fact you have used an 8.3 version of Postgres. Please see the attached emails.
