    Shaun;
    I have managed to setup successfully after changing a few settings.
    I am so grateful.
    Let me now get down to learning the software.
    Do you have any tutorials for someone new to OC.
    Regards;
    Brian

    Hi Brian,
    The error makes me think the machine does not have enough memory for the settings we recommend. If you set the “1280” Max memory pool and the “-XX:MaxPermSize=180m” as per my installation instructions tomcat would need at least 1360mb of memory to run. Your error message makes me think you do not have that much memory. Quickly remove those settings and then see if tomcat will start. If tomcat starts that is your issue.
    Thanks,
    Shaun

    Re: [Users] Open Clinica Installation Hi Brian,
    I am a sys admin so I myself and not to familiar with the UI. I would recommend the following based on other posts and what I think helps new users.
    View the recorded demo as it give you some insight on how the system is supposed to work -- https://www.openclinica.com/product-demo
    For reference materials please utilize our docs site at -- http://docs.openclinica.com/
    The great community we have on this list also setup this wiki which I think is very useful -- http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/OpenClinica_User_Manual
    Also if anyone else has more suggestions for him please speak up as I previously mentioned I myself do not have extensive experience with the UI.
    Thanks,
    Shaun

    Shaun;
    Thank you.
    Now I have another problem. The OC I setup was working well.
    I added a Data Manager very well but could not send email.
    When I configured the SMTP settings, saved and restarted apache, it has stopped working.
    I am getting the first error on the browser;
    HTTP Status 404 -
    type Status report
    message
    description The requested resource () is not available.
    Apache Tomcat/6.0.32
    When I check in the Log; I find the error below;

    Kindly assist.

    Re: [Users] Open Clinica Installation Hi Brian,
    The error you posted is known and does not affect openclinica at all. It is not even an error message it is a INFO message. What do your other logs say? If I had to guess with no log data you made a bad entry in datainfo.properties.
    Also I forgot to mention another great way to get started with OpenClinica is to take our Open Enrollment training class - https://openclinica.com/open-enrollment-training
    Thanks,

    Re: [Users] Open Clinica Installation HI Brian,
    Every one of those errors messages are expected except the following.
    SEVERE: Error listenerStart
    Nov 12, 2011 9:45:40 AM org.apache.catalina.core.StandardContext start
    SEVERE: Context [/OpenClinica] startup failed due to previous errors
    I would need to see all the logs in your logs directory. Preferably fresh logs so stop tomcat, delete the logs, and then start tomcat, zip up the logs. Also if you could provide your datainfo.properties file as well and feel free to comment out the dbpass.
    Thanks,

    For reference materials please utilize our docs site at -- http://docs.openclinica.com/
    The great community we have on this list also setup this wiki which I think is very useful -- http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/OpenClinica_User_Manual
    Also if anyone else has more suggestions for him please speak up as I previously mentioned I myself do not have extensive experience with the UI.
    Thanks,

    I have managed to setup successfully after changing a few settings.
    I am so grateful.
    Let me now get down to learning the software.
    Do you have any tutorials for someone new to OC.
    Regards;

    Hi Brian,
    The error makes me think the machine does not have enough memory for the settings we recommend.
    Thanks,
    Shaun

    What could be the problem.

    Hi Shaun;
    I was missing out here;
    dbType=postgres
    dbUser=clinica
    dbPass=root
    db=${WEBAPP.lower}
    dbPort=5432
    dbHost=localhost
    I changed the dbpass and had forgotten to update the datainfo.properties.
    Am glad now it is working. Am learning OC so the Login details are not so secret.
    In case of anything I need to know about OC; I will consult you.
    Regards;
    Brian M.

    HI Brian,
    Every one of those errors messages are expected except the following.
    Thanks,
    Shaun

    Hi Brian,
    The error you posted is known and does not affect openclinica at all.
    Thanks,

    Thank you.
    Now I have another problem. The OC I setup was working well.
    I added a Data Manager very well but could not send email.
    When I configured the SMTP settings, saved and restarted apache, it has stopped working.
    I am getting the first error on the browser;
    HTTP Status 404 -

    Apache Tomcat/6.0.32
    When I check in the Log; I find the error below;
