remote access to oc account

Hello everyone,
I'm new to OpenClinica. I have installed OpenClinica 3.1.2 and created a user account which is working OK.
The problem is when I try to access my oc account from another PC, I can't connect to it.
I don't know if I need to change Tomcat configuration or something else.
From localhost the URL is: http://localhost:8080/Openclinica
From another PC I change 'localhost' to IP: http://192.168.16.34:8080/OpenClinica
but this doesn't work.
Am I doing something wrong?
I'm using Windows 7 and postgresql 8.4.

    Hi Marav,
    This is probably a firewall issue. Add an exception on the 192.168.16.34 machine, allowing incoming traffic on port 8080.

    I've tried your suggestion but it didn't help. Still get the message: ' Resource (IP) is online but isn't responding to connection attempts' when trying to connect from another PC.
    Any other ideas? Are there any changes in postgresql/tomcat configurations that have to be made?

    Merav,
    OpenClinica should be accessible from other laptops without any issues. Your problem must be a networking issues, try the following to troubleshoot
    1. Ping the ip address and see if the server IP is accessible.
    2. See if the tomcat manager is access, if you left the default tomcat as is:
    http://ip:8080/manager
    see if you can open the manager page.

    Please change your system URL to sysURL=http://192.168.16.34/${WEBAPP}/MainMenu or sysURL=http://192.168.16.34/OpenClinica/MainMenu.
    or replace the attached file in C:\oc\Tomcat 6.0\webapps\OpenClinica\WEB-INF\classes folder.
    Then open command prompt-->type cd C:\oc\Tomcat 6.0\bin --than press enter key.
    then type tomcat6 --press enter key
    now you can try to login from LAN system by typing http://192.168.16.34/OpenClinica

    Isn't the sysURL just a String that is used as the basis for links into the application when sending out mails?

    Indeed, changing the sysURL will not help Merav. It is, as Janus wrote, most likely to be a firewall issue.
    Merav, exactly what happens when you point a browser at http://192.168.16.34:8080/OpenClinica ?
    Also, what do you get when you enter that address in a browser on the machine itself? It is unlikely, but it could be that the machine is not listening on the 192.168.16.34 interface, only on the localhost interface (127.0.0.1).

  • Thanks for your replies.

    I can ping the server successfully.
    I can also access to http://ip:8080 and the "It works !" appears. However, in that page there is a link to the Tomcat Manger: http://ip:8080/manager/ and when clicking, I keep getting prompted for a user name and password. I've edited /oc/tomcat/conf/tomcat-users.xml to add a new role and when I enter these username and password in the login window I can access tomcat manager successfully.
    But still, cannot login from other pc, probably because he is expecting the username and password. How can I bypass this?
