Insight makes it easy to ask questions of ALL of your clinical and operational data and visualize answers via interactive reports and dashboards. The idea is simple, but the results are powerful: ask your questions, choose your visualizations, then return often for updated, interactive results that link you to all of the underlying data.

How to move from localhost to internet server?

To begin with, I would like to thank developers and everyone involved in OpenClinica - I am only in the beginning of getting familiar with the software, but so far so good. Thank you, guys.
My question might be stupid, but I am more a doctor, than an IT man, so I followed the instructions and managed to get OpenClinica running on the localhost okay. I don have an internet domain rented.
How do I transfer OpenClinica form local host to an internet-server? Couldn't find it anywhere(
Thanks in advance for Your replies.

    Hi Alex,
You simply replace "localhost" with the IP address of the server. You have to also install OpenClinica the same way on the server.

  • Can I transfer the study, which I designed locally to the internet server in that way?

No not directly. You first have to install OpenClinica on the server. Then you have two options, Either you simply set up the study from scratch on the server or you export the PostgreSQL database that you have created or you move the PG database that you have created, by using PG Admin III, to the server. For a beginner it is probably easier to create the study again. If you are using PGSQL version 9.x there is a problem with the export and import. If you already have data entered then you have no option but using the export and import functionality.
See also and for higher versions 9.X also this WEB page is helpful

  • Thanks for Your prompt reply. Will it be easier if its just crds and study design - no data entered - will it be easier for me to move it to the server? If its a problem, I'd rather stick to editing xls and then create the study de novo

Since you have not entered any data, I would definitely build up the study from scratch on the server by using your originally designed Excel sheets. This would give you valuable experience and you may be able to spot things that you could improve. I like yourself is not an IT peson but a Pharmacologist with interests in Datamanagement,

    Best regards

  • Thanks. Will do
