Calculated variables

Hi,

Ever since we upgraded Openclinica to the newer version, all calculated variables such as age which worked before have stopped working. It calculates and appears for a second after clicking save but when you go in again to view the entry, the variable is empty. Also, the edit checks on this variable (like age<18) don't work either. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a fix?

Thanks,
Dalia.

    Hi Dalia,
yes we experienced this issue, using the procedure reported in the wiki page.

What we have done has been to update the procedure we used with the latest one from the wiki page.

Than, we noticed two different behaviors if you use firefox or internet explorer 8.

With FF the new procedure works fine.

With IE8 instead, we need to switch between the two dates to show the calculation than save to allow the recording of the calculation.
Another workaround for IE8 is reenter in the page and save again.
In this way we are able to save the calculated age in the database with IE8.

An additional info, we are using oc with oracle.

    Regards
    Alfonso.

    Hi Alfonso,

Which procedure are you referring to? (our IT person did the upgrade). Can you send me a link?
Also, what do you mean switching between the two dates?

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi,
Are you using the 17 October version of the script? We updated the script on the wiki page about two weeks ago (see the "script updates" post), which should take care of that IE problem.
    Cheers,
    Sander

    Hi Dalia,
are you using the calculation field within the crf

or the calculation procedure reported in the http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/OpenClinica_User_Manual/AgeField page?

The problem I experienced is with the use of the AgeField procedure.
If this is your problem too, I will send you details about that.

    Regards
    Alfonso.

    Hi Sander,
at the time of study implementation we used the june 2012 version.
After have noticed that it did not work anymore, we have replaced it with the latest one, the one you mentioned below.

Unfortunately we still meet problem using OC 3.1.4.1 with IE8.

With IE8 we also have problems to show correctly crf were we use jquery to style the layout.
The problem is with the 'prototype.js' that does not allow the page to be uploaded correctly.

    Do you have any suggestion?

    Thanks and regards

    Hi Alfonso,
I managed to find an IE version 8 and tested the age calculation script on OC 3.1.4.1 and did not encounter the problem... Feel free to send me your CRF and I'll take a look.
Haven't looked at the jQuery styling. I played around with it for a bit a year ago, but then switched to css. Due to circumstances not using that either. But feel free to send me a CRF with jQuery styling as well and I'll give that a shot as well.
    Cheers,
    Sander

    Dalia, Sander,
enclosed you can find some screenshots that show two behaviors to allow the recording of age calculation with IE8.

    Alfonso,
The issue we solved (or tried to) with the latest update, is this exact situation. So if the problem still occurs for you somehow I really need the CRF if I am to debug it... Your call ;-)

    Sander,
encosed you can find the screenshots of crf and external js elements.

What I have done differently has been create an external js called from the crf.

The 'jquery.min.js' link is different but the other part of the script is the same... but not in the crf.

    Thanks and regards
    Alfonso
