HIDE and SHOW based upon answers to two different questions

kristiakkristiak Posts: 1,338 ✭✭✭
The following rule problem I’m not sure how to resolve.

The following should be the logic.

“Has a brain scan discovered a haemorrhage? Y/N (1)
If no go to classification!

If YES was the haemorrhage due to a ruptured infarct Y/N (2)
If Yes go to classification”

There are 9 variables (NEURO1 to NEURO9) in the classification section, each of them should be answered with a YES, NO or UNKNOWN

It is not possible to use the simple HIDE and SHOW functions since you can go to the classification section from two different variables. So I guess a RULE is the only solution. But how do I make a rule show 9 different variables based upon 2 different answers? Either a NO to question (1) or a YES to quetion (2)

Any help with this would be highly appreciated even i the middle of summer.

Regards

Krister

    Hi Krister,

    Would the following work?

    - Hide the 9 variables by default
    - One rule to show each variable in the classifications section if Q1 = NO
    - One rule to show each variable in the classifications section if Q2 = YES

In Rules Designer you can have multiple "Apply On" entries i.e. one for each of your variables. In fact if your 9 questions are all in a group you could simplify it and just show the group.

You may need to consider the case where the data is edited an you need the user to clear out the previous answers for the 9 variables??

    Cheers

    Hi Eric,

I'm almost there, but I can figure out what the error message sais.

"Your XML is not well formed, and does not comply with the Rules schema. Check it and try again. It returned the message: Line : 20 - The element type "Message" must be terminated by the matching end-tag ""."

I have attache my rules file if you would have chance to look at it. Once it works I will ctreate Another rule for the second question.

    Best regards

    Hi Krister,

Please update the following in your rule

    < ShowAction IfExpressionEvaluates="true" >

and include the end tag for message

< Message>Please complete the details for the classification of the stroke below < /Message >

Let me know if you are still having issues.

    Thanks,
