Re: Delivery Status Notification(Failure)

Hi Yufang,

This is my starting screen finally, after the re-installation. Happy so far, though not so wholly happy. Pls advise how I get past this.

Thanks,

So you'd advise I install v2.2. I was planning to re-install 2.0.1 after watching the video. Actually the 2.0.1 installation manual says we install JAVA in the folder C:\j2sdk1.5.0_10, but in the video, you installed it in C:\jdk1.5.0_10. Might this explain the log file I've attached (hs_err_pid3696.log)? It scared me, I picked it up from the c:\tomcat5 folder after loging in.

Pls do advise before I redo the whole installation process. I'm also thinking of uninstalling the J2SE runtime environment after watching the video.

Hi Joshua,

The installation video is for 2.0.1 which does not force you to change your password upon first login. For 2.2, the default is to force the user to change his password, so if you enter 12345678 in the old password and enter a new one, you will be able to get to the home page.

Also, I will be putting together an installation video for the latest release of OpenClinica and posting it next week. There will be a Windows version and a Linux version for people to use.

Thanks,
Paul

Hi Yufang,

This is what happened (and it's this funny). I downloaded the installation movie, watched it and there I discovered I had to copy the OpenClinica.xml file to the c:\tomcat5\conf\catalina\localhost (however, this is not said in the installation manual). Things worked fine with the root and 1-8 psword. However, the msg I'm getting is that "Your password has expired, please change your password for security reasons" and a very blank screen after that. In the video, it showed there was a link which I could follow to create new users and password. Pls do advise.

Hi Yufang,

Yes, I can confirm that the postgresql-8.1-405.jdbc3.jar is copied in the common\lib folder.

I had to restart my laptop, just in case it helps. After, I stopped Tomcat5, zipped the log folder, restarted Tomcat, ran http://localhost:8080/OpenClinica and zipped the log folder. Basically the same old message still comes up "Your Username and Password combination could not be found. Please try again. If you continue to have trouble, please click "Forgot Password" or contact the Administrator"

Hope this helps, and by the way I greatly appreciate your help

If this cannot solve the trouble, please send us logs again. Before you zip your logs, do this: make a new folder, stop tomcat; copy existing log files to this new folder; start tomcat; go through log in process again; zip your logs. In this way, we can get logs recording the current state. Thanks.

Hi all,

Glad to get some response concerning my plight. As I said, I'm new to this amazing OpenClinica. I'm still struggling though, at the installation step and I'll explain in detail, may be somebody will help me better then.

I thought I could install the latest v2.2 right away, but I failed. Then I said to myself, I'd install v2.01 first then upgrade. But as the installation guide says, some of the opensource software versions are no longer available. I successifully got jdk-1_5_0_10-windows-i586-p.exe and installed it under C:\j2sdk1.5.0_10 fine. During the installation however, I was prompted to install the C:\jre1.5.0_10 (which is not mentioned in the installation manual). Nevertheless, all configs for the Tomcat were done in C:\j2sdk1.5.0_10.

Now, postgresql-8.1.6-1.zip was no longer available, and I said to myself I'll install postgresql-8.1.10-1.zip which is available. The installation went fine, created openclinica db well, ran the "create_db_role.sql" and "create_database_2_0_1_with_data.sql" plus the Datamart stuff with no friction at all. However, pls advise if the "Database Encoding" message I get is normal, where I'm advised to use the "Unicode (UTF8)" whenever I click on the openclinica db from pgAdmin III.

And for Tomcat, "apache-tomcat-5.5.20.exe" was no longer available and so I installed the available apache-tomcat-5.5.25.exe . The rest went fine also.

Unfortunately, after all the configs done religiously well as stipulated in the installation guide, I get the message disappointing message "Your Username and Password combination could not be found. Please try again. If you continue to have trouble, please click "Forgot Password" or contact the Administrator. " when I use the root , 12345678 login. I'm desperate for a solution, and I'll appreciate knowing what or where I've gone wrong.

Anxiously waiting,
Joshua

Paul, please have a video presentation, if possible, for installation of 2.2.

Joshua, it is important that you re-start your computer after uninstalling the sdk and jre prior to the 1st sdk installation. Also follow the exact sequence as Paul demonstrates in his video. May be this will help.

Looking forward to some solutions on how to login (except the obvious root and 1-8 combination, coz it is not working) and/or reset the passwords for first-time logging in.

Thanking you in advance for your time and effort,

Sincerely,

    Hi Joshua,

In looking at your screenshot, it appears you installed 2.0.1 instead of 2.2. The Technical Admin button at the top of the page is not a part of 2.2.
OpenClinica 2.0.1 can not use version 5.5.25 or higher for Tomcat otherwise else you will see the page you have attached. I would suggest deleting the folder OpenClinica and the OpenClinica.war file in the webapps folder of Tomcat, and deploy OpenClinica 2.2 instead. When you first log in, you should not see this page again.

    Thanks,
    Paul

    Hi Paul,

You are correct, 2.0.1 could not work for me. Good news is that I've just installed 2.2 successifully and now getting myself farmiliar with the software. Did I see a manual somewhere? From the few minutes I've spent with the software, it seems to me a study is the same as a site? Pls correct me if I'm wrong. Also some sites may have more than one protocol and some investigators might be PIs on more than one protocol!!!!!

    Hi Joshua,

A site is going to be under a study, so you can assign users to a particular site that can not see into any other site or the top level study if you do not want to provide them access.

The way it works in OpenClinica is to create sites underneath the study. You can not create a site once, and then assign it to multiple studies. So, you will need to create the site multiple times, but it is simply done in one screen. Once they are created, you can assign users to their particular site of the study.
To view a video on setting up things with OpenClinica 2.2 you can go here http://www.openclinica.org/page.php?pid=378. Also, you can follow the 2.0.1 quickstart video which can help you with 2.2. That can be downloaded here http://www.openclinica.org/webinar/OC_QuickStart_05-30-07.wmv.

I hope this helps, but please let us know if you have other questions.
    Thanks,

From the few minutes I've spent with the software, it seems to me a study is the same as a site? Pls correct me if I'm wrong. Also some sites may have more than one protocol and some investigators might be PIs on more than one protocol!!!!!

Please try again. If you continue to have trouble, please click "Forgot Password" or contact the Administrator".

    Sincerely,

    Vishal
